KinderStampO's Ornaments, Ornaments, and More Ornaments Blog Hop - December 17th & 18th

Holiday Greetings Wonderful Visitors!

Welcome to KinderStampO's "Ornaments, Ornaments, and More Ornaments" Blog Hop!  Whether you are already a follower or new to my blog, WELCOME AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS!  Get ready to see 24 unique, creative, and fun ways to decorate your tree with all of our ornament creations!  You should have arrived here from Kari's blog, Purple Funtastick Creations.  If you get lost during the hop or need to view the entire line-up, please visit Jess at KinderStampO.  Make sure you read this post til the very end so you can learn about some of the wonderful prizes up for grabs ;)

I grew up creating ornaments with my family as a child.  Of course, there were the fun paper doves and stars we created in school, but my mother used to create fabric pinecones, macaroni angels, and painted glass ornaments with us as children as well.  It has been YEARS since I've had an opportunity to create something I can use to decorate the tree, so I jumped at the opportunity to participate in Jess' fun hop.

I chose to create an ornament that was a play off of an explosion box.  Explosion boxes have been all the rage as of late in the crafting world, and I had always want to create one, so I thought "Why not?  Who says it can't be an ornament as well?"  I researched "mini explosion box" and found a wonderful tutorial by Shannon at Stampin' Sentiments that was not only informative, but extremely simple to follow.  Following Shannon's wonderful directions and examples, I created an ornament I am extremely proud of and absolutely love.

So, without further ado...my ornament!

Pretty little ornament!

Loving these little snowflakes!

Open it up...

...and there's a message inside!

Sorry about the smudge on "Happy Holidays" - blame my busy little fingers!

I will be selecting one winner from my blog to receive this one-of-a-kind ornament created by YOURS TRULY!  (with a non-smudged sentiment inside, lol)  I may even include a fun treat inside ;) (it is an explosion box, after all!).  Please leave me a comment by 11:59pm on Sunday, December 18th in order to qualify.  I will give you a bonus entry if you become a follower or are already a follower :)  Please, please, PLEASE leave me contact information with your entries - it makes it much easier to contact you if you WIN! :)

My card was inspired by my good friend Juls (who also happens to be an art teacher - so she totally appreciates my creativity, lol! :)).  I had a bit of a rough weekend and Juls was there for me when I needed her the most, so I wanted to create a card to thank her for her support :)  Without further ado...

This was on the inside of my card! :)
I hope you enjoyed my project!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL!  Enjoy your family and friends during this wonderful time!

Coming soon....

Hello bloggy visitors :)

Thank you for those of you who left kind notes on my previous blogpost (that's you, Linda!) - I appreciate the support.  I'm sure you're wondering why my post still hasn't appeared...it is not by choice...but because I am sick :(  I guess I knew it would happen with the stress and all...and with the sickness that seems to be sweeping through the teachers at my school...but I am not 100% and have not had a chance to write my post yet as I am either huddled under a blanket and/or sleeping when not at school.  We're headed out to see my family this weekend (yay) which makes it even more difficult to pull a post together!  So I promise that by Sunday night (if not sooner -- we'll see if I can commandeer the computer at my parents' house...) I will have my "Sketchy Wednesday" post up :)

Thanks for being patient with me...bit of a crazy time right now, but eventually I will get it all done! :)

Take care,
Ashley

Sketchy Wednesday Post Will Be a Little Late....

Hello wonderful bloggy friends :)

The title says it all...my posting featuring my card for this week's Sketchy Wednesday will be a bit delayed.  It was a pretty horrible day today, and I have many items to complete before heading to work/school tomorrow.  Unfortunately, work comes first (as much as I wish it wasn's so!).  I will have my post up no later than Wednesday evening/night, so please come back and visit to check it out!

Off to get everything done!

Thanks for stopping by!

Sketchy Wednesday - "you warm my heart"

Greetings all!

Welcome to my submission for this week's "Sketchy Wednesday" over at the KinderStampO blog!  I have realized over the last few weeks that my crafting and projects have greatly improved since I joined Jess' design team.  I am willing to challenge myself more with the design aspects of my projects as well as try new techniques and materials.  This is due in large part to the support of Jess and my lovely DT sisters - thanks ladies for pushing me out of my "comfort zone" and onto bigger and better things!  You're all fantastic! :)

I am excited to share this week's project with you.  This week's sketch was a bit more of a challenge for me in that I was having a bit of a difficult time locating materials to support the sketch.  I had to be creative when following the sketch for this particular project and I am truly proud of the end result.

This week's sketch was:

And my interpretation of the sketch:

A bit closer up...I used my Stickles to create that fun trim at the bottom of the center portion!

I got a bit creative when selecting the sentiment from this card...take a look at my supply list and see if you can figure out what is so special about it!
Supplies List:

* KinderStampO "Vintage Love" Stamp Set
* The Stamping Boutique "Pumpkin Pie" Digital Stamp
* DCWV "The Street Lace" Cardstock Stacks
* Cloud 9 Designs "Seasonal" Paper Pad
* Standard Yellow Cardstock
* ProMarkers: Colorless Blender (PM-121), Sienna Brown (PM-65), Light Umber (PM-172), Orange (PM-16), Cream (PM-23), Pale Vermillion (PM-14), Spanish Orange (PM-123), Yellow Orange (PM-15)
* Stickles in "Purple"
* Dress It Up Buttons - "Country Cats"
* TPC Clearly Better Ink Pads in "Black"
* Tombow Adhesive Runner
* Mini Glue Dots

Yes, you read that right - I used Jess' "Vintage Love" set on a Thanksgiving-themed (or fall-themed, if you'd prefer) card!  This just goes to show the versatility of the stamps that Jess creates.  You can take a stamp from one themed set and use it in a completely different context on a project - and it works!  Yet another reason why I L-O-V-E my KinderStampO sets!

That is all for this week's project.  Expect to see a project for this upcoming "Color It Mondays" from yours truly! :)

Take care, and thanks for visiting!

"Operation Julie's Smile" Blog Hop!

Welcome to the "Operation Julie's Smile" Blog Hop -
a benefit for the lovely and talented Julie Ranae Murray!

I am so glad that you joined us on this amazing blog hop for Operation Julie’s Smile.  If you came here from Lindsey’s blog, then you are in the right spot.  If not, you may want to start from the beginning at the Sweet Stamp Shop’s blog and take your time.   You have ALL WEEKEND to hop with us and win prizes!

A few notes before we begin...
  • With a blog hop this large (120 blogs in total, yay!), there could be a break somewhere in the chain, so please bear with us.  A complete list of blogs on the hop is posted on the Sweet Stamp Shop Blog.  You have a complete weekend to get around to all the blogs to be eligible for prizes by leaving comments.
  • We have over $2500 in prizes donated by the very generous companies.  A complete list of sponsors is listed on the Sweet Stamp Shop Blog.  Prizes will be drawn from the blog comments left on all blogs and from the PayPal Donation list, so you have many chances to win!
What is Operation Julie's Smile?

The creative blogging community is coming together this weekend to help one of our friends, Julie Ranae.  You may know her as the Design Team Coordinator for many wonderful companies from bakers twine, die cuts, rubber stamps and more.  What many people don’t know about Julie Ranae is that she has had some pretty major dental surgeries in her lifetime due to medication she had to take as a child.  It was in her plans to think about having all of her teeth  replaced at some point in the next 5 years, a decision that was pretty easy to plan out.  But then it happened…she chipped her front teeth on a weekend a month ago. The dentist told her there was no way to save them & that it was his recommendation that she give in and have them all her teeth removed soon, but for that day, they needed to get her front teeth done so her gums could begin to heal. He said he would 'work out payments with her to have ALL this work done'...but when she called to make her appointment for the first step of impressions, they told her the amount of money that was needed and that the 'payments' applied only to the two teeth that were extracted that day. Her husband Paul was with her & that too, was his understanding as well. So this is how she has found herself in this situation…Needing at least $4000 to get started and another $3000 to finish the process…a total of $7000.

Nicole Rixon, owner of Sweet Stamp Shop put together this benefit after finding out about this situation and before Julie Ranae knew it, it took flight!

Because she is an event organizer by trade, she has taken on the job of organizing all of the blogs in this hop as her way of ‘working overtime’ for what she needs, the same as if she were able to work overtime at an outside job to pay for the work to be done.

It is the goal of all of these generous friends & sponsors to help make this situation more do-able for our friend so that she can share a brand new smile with all of us soon.
If there is anything you can do to help with a financial donation, there is a donation button ready for you to click.  On my blog, it is located on the right-hand sidebar of my page, underneath the "Operation Julie's Smile" button.  Any amount is appreciated and ALL DONATIONS will be eligible for prizes from our sponsor pool of over $2500.

Please consider donating to help the wonderful Julie Ranae out - she is a fantastic crafter, a wonderful friend, and someone who DESERVES a wonderful smile to match her great personality!

Now, onto my project for this hop...

I wanted to create something fun using my Unity stamps - I am in a love affair with those stamps right now - so I decided to create a bright, cheerful tag using one of the adorable stamps from the "Total Cuteness" set.  Add some fun paper...an adorable saying from Pink by Design's "Go Green" set...a little bit of ink and glitter...AND VOILA!  A tag that is a "HOOT"!

Love, love, LOVE this fun little owl from the Unity "Total Cuteness" stamp set!

And this saying is too perfect from Pink by Design's "Go Green" set!

Supplies List:
* Unity "Total Cuteness" Stamp Set
* Pink by Design "Go Green" Stamp Set
* Inkssentials Surfaces Manila Tags - 5" Size
* DCWV "The Colorful Life" Cardstock Stack
* Patterned Cardstock Scraps
* Fiskars High Density Pigment Ink in "Navy Blues"
* Stickles Glitter Glue in "Cotton Candy"

I hope you enjoyed your stop here on the hop!  The next stop is Angie’s blog.  Make sure you leave a comment here before you go so that you can have a chance at the amazing prizes up for grabs and if you can, please make a donation so we can help bring back a new smile for our friend.
Hope to see you again soon!
